    What's up next

    Snapshot from userig.app/changelog?tab=upcoming · 7 Aug 2026 (UTC).

Directional — not a promise. Discuss specifics in Feature ideas.

    Next — Fleet remote control

Target: late beta (around beta.30–.35). Phone-friendly fleet board on the web Account dashboard, morning stacks, smart offline queues, home-Mac assign, keep-awake schedules, remote open URL + failure log tails, then peer wake, team role gates, on-call Macs, and update-all. Same device APIs the iPhone app will use — no FileVault cold-boot promises.

Next — MCP: git + database tools

Agents currently shell out past Rig for the two biggest jobs. First-class MCP for git (status, branch, commit, diff) and databases (status, branch, restore) — the unlock for branch-aware DBs and agent-driven previews later.

    Next — WordPress one-click local

Pick WordPress in New Project → named site, isolated MySQL, tuned php.ini, trusted local HTTPS, admin credentials in the vault. PHP’s built-in server + Rig’s existing process/HTTPS stack — no VM, no per-site LEMP container. Aimed at beating Local on weight, not matching its bundling tax.

    Soon — Stable 1.0 polish

Target: Mac 1.0 after fleet foundations land. Groups, session resume, install polish, and a calmer day-to-day shell so betas feel finished, not provisional.

Soon — iPhone / iPad app

Target: TestFlight after fleet board + remote commands are solid on the web. See fleet status, start/stop/restart when a Mac is awake, morning stacks, and attention alerts — same Rig account as Mac and cloud. iPad gets the wider fleet layout.

    Soon — Menu bar + Cmd-K + hotkeys

Start/stop/status from the menu bar without opening the full window, a command palette for jump-anywhere actions, and global hotkeys for the day-to-day loop.

    Soon — Autopilot finish-loop

When a project dies: free the port, restart cleanly, and explain what happened in plain English — finish the self-heal loop we already half-built.

Soon — Env diff + write across Macs

See which teammate Mac is missing STRIPE_KEY (and friends) before a silent misconfig burns an hour — then write/update vars through Rig, not only switch profiles. Bridge into the secrets vault.

Soon — Live Link / share polish

One hero share CTA (copy link + QR), clearer expire/stop, MCP tool to mint a WAN URL for the current project, and demos that feel instant — not a tunnel rebuild mid-standup.

Soon — MCP: fleet, sessions, PHP/Laravel

Agent surface for list devices / remote commands, session resume/switch, env profile tools, and PHP/Laravel helpers (framework detect, log tail, Valet health) — plus a documented generic MCP config path for any editor.

    Soon — JetBrains, Zed, Neovim

First-class MCP link-up beyond Claude, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, and Windsurf — especially JetBrains for the Laravel/PHP crowd comparing to Herd.

Soon — Desktop debug & data suite

Time-travel searchable logs across restarts, docker-compose visualiser, local request inspector, resource graphs + alerts, and seed/fixture/reset for local databases.

Soon — Secret scanning before commit

Warn before a leaked key hits git — Rig already knows what’s secret via the vault, so this isn’t another downstream CI scanner.

Soon — Live pair + request access

Share a running project’s logs/terminal read-only with a teammate, and one-tap request access to their preview — multiplayer flight board without screen share theater.

Soon — Cloud push + real team permissions

Desktop sync stops being pull-only (push channel for commands/notifications), and org roles get a real UI — seats, who can remote-start/wake/revoke — not just API scaffolding.

    Soon — WordPress toolkit

After one-click install: WP-CLI command palette, Mailpit for caught mail, Xdebug toggle, safe change-URL, site shell with wp on PATH, and PHP/MySQL logs in the same place as every other Rig project.

    Later — Windows desktop

Target: post–1.0 companion. Installer and project lifecycle for Windows teams who still need the Mac as the home studio — download page already marks this coming soon.

Later — Secrets vault & deeper observability

End-to-end env vault (keys never leave devices) plus richer anomaly graphs and host health over time.

Later — Team roles + audit trail

Real RBAC beyond light owner/member/viewer — who can remote-start, wake, revoke — plus who pulled which project’s secrets and when, using vault metadata already on devices.

    Later — Public @handle profiles

Opt-in userig.app/@handle backed by real activity (not a static bio) — stacks, projects, ship signal. Never publishes by default.

Later — Templates & service marketplace

User-published, versioned project templates plus a one-click service catalog beyond managed Postgres/Redis — recipes teams can add without hand-wiring every port.

    Later — Agent environment superpowers

Branch-aware databases that follow git checkout, a ship-it tool to a shareable live URL, cross-device commands from chat, environment-as-code attached to the commit, and ephemeral fully-scoped preview environments per branch — all local.

Later — Mission control + fleet dashboard

One live map of every project, device, live share, and database branch on the Mac; a cloud fleet dashboard with uptime timelines, resource trends, and alerts on crashes or an offline machine.

Later — Continuity as disaster recovery

Time Machine for the whole environment (code + DB + processes), full-machine restore on a new Mac, and Continuity framed as “laptop gone at 9am, working by 9:15” — not just backup.

Later — LAN pairing + identity switching

AirDrop for dev environments — discover another Rig on the LAN and pull their running project state in under a minute. Plus one switch that swaps git identity, SSH keys, and env vars together for freelancers/agencies.

Later — Predictive health + Laravel depth

Warn before a crash from resource trends, not just after — and a Herd-beating Laravel surface: Telescope-style request inspector, queue/Horizon view, Artisan command palette.

    Later — One-click + preview deploys

Runs locally → ship to Railway / Vercel / Fly from the project, with per-branch preview deploys and status/rollback on the flight board.

Later — Webhooks + admin panel

Outbound webhooks for Rig’s internal events (crash, device joined, …) to Slack/Discord/generic URL, and the full staff admin panel beyond digests and release pings.

Later — WordPress portability & stretch

Full site export/import bundles, clone with URL rewrite, site blueprints, multisite, then phase-2 bundled PHP binaries (no Homebrew prerequisite) — plus stretch DX like instant reload.
